You will beam down to the planet or object the ship is in orbit of, and when beaming back, or to another player's ship, you will materialize on the teleportation pad. The teleportation pad is the way to travel to and from a ship. The exception are the Novakid who, unlike the other races, are able to craft guns and not close range weapons at the Anvil. There's no impact on gameplay or limitation on acquiring other race items or objects.
However, any object can be acquired with enough gameplay. Your race choice here will determine the appearance of the ship you'll start off with, the ship's pet and how your character will describe objects you inspect.The character creation window provides choice between race, gender and appearance. At the select character screen, click create character to create a new character or an existing character to advance directly to the game.
