A thief steals the genetically engineered T-virus and contaminates the Hive with it. Underneath Raccoon City exists a genetic research facility called the Hive, owned by the Umbrella Corporation. But unbeknownst to the public, it hides a sinister and criminal secret that the megacorporation itself is involved in military technology, bioweaponry and genetic experimentation. The film opens with an introduction of the origins of the Umbrella Corporation which at the beginning of the 21st century is the world's biggest conglomerate entities while its political and economic influence is felt everywhere.
